In Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) churches, the vesper service marks the transition into or out of the Sabbath, which runs from sunset Friday to sunset Saturday. It provides a purposeful pause for worship, reflection, and community.​

Purpose

Vespers welcomes the Sabbath on Friday evenings at sundown with informal worship like songs, prayers, Bible readings, or testimonies, helping members shift from weekly busyness to spiritual rest. On Saturday evenings, it closes the Sabbath by giving thanks for its blessings and seeking strength for the week ahead
