The Sabbath Service in the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church is the main weekly worship gathering held on Saturday, the seventh day, from sunset Friday to sunset Saturday. It centers on communal Bible study, prayer, preaching, and fellowship to honor God’s creation and redemption.

Purpose

The service commemorates God resting after Creation (Genesis 2:2-3), serving as a memorial of His creative power and a sign of the covenant between God and His people (Exodus 31:16-17).
It provides dedicated time for worship, rest from secular work, and acts of mercy, fostering spiritual renewal and relationship with God (Isaiah 58:13-14; Mark 2:27).
SDAs view it as following Jesus’ example, who attended synagogue on the Sabbath (Luke 4:16).

Importance of Sabath Service

This service is central to SDA identity as the fourth commandment's observance, distinguishing true allegiance to God as Creator amid modern materialism. It symbolizes redemption in Christ, sanctification, and future eternal rest, promoting physical, mental, and spiritual benefits like deeper trust in God.
